UNDERSTANDING THE TAX, LEGAL AND FINANCIAL NEEDS OF AN EXISTING OR PLANNED INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS
Stan Sherwood established the Manhattan consulting firm of Sherwood Associates (SA) to offer large-firm capabilities and small-firm responsiveness to emerging international businesses, middle-market international companies and global conglomerates. This includes U.S. companies with existing international operations as well as companies that are first planning international expansion. Also, it includes non-U.S. companies currently doing business in the United States or those wishing to enter the U.S. market.
Until early 2000, Mr. Sherwood was an international tax and legal partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) in New York. He is listed in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Transfer Pricing Advisors and in Euromoney’s Guide to the World’s Leading Tax Advisors. In 2001, he was listed in Mondaq.com’s Guide to the World’s Leading Tax Lawyers. In addition to being a member of the New York Bar, Mr. Sherwood is also a Certified Public Accountant.
Since 2000, Mr. Sherwood has provided advisory and consulting services to several of the world’s leading luxury and fashion brands (Gucci, Saint Laurent, Balenciaga, Alexander McQueen) and sports and lifestyle brands (Puma, Volcom) in addition to crossing over into many other industries, including: pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, real estate, insurance and banking, ecommerce and global service companies. He welcomes the opportunity to help small and mid-size companies grow into successful international brands.
Mr. Sherwood is part of the founding faculty of the Fashion Law Institute at Fordham University Law School in New York. He teaches the course on “Creating a Global Company: Business, Legal Financial Considerations,” in which he demonstrates how to take a small fashion start-up company and expand it into a global enterprise.
